Asfaq Tapia was born in Grant Road, Bombay, the financial capital of India, on the longest day of the year – June 23 – the Summer Solstice. He claims to have created this website as a medium for expressing his thoughts on all things internet related and especially those related to Social Media.

Asfaq created this blog in late 2005 and in all the time it has existed, it has served no useful purpose to the world, other than to entertain himself. Being a true Gemini-Cancerian cusp, Asfaq believes that he is a perfectionist, systematic and intricate planner; while being uncannily intuitive and passionately creative at the same time. Like you have already guessed, he uses adjectives quite liberally, and can be the devil’s advocate when needed.

Currently, Asfaq is in Bombay, India and works for Pinstorm, Asia’s largest pay-for-performance digital advertising company. He enjoys the strategic planning for its Social Media campaigns, while working with journalists in the media – some of whom (he likes to believe) are his friends now. His passion for technology and all things internet related have ensured that he does interesting stuff that barely pays the bills but keeps him going through the recession nevertheless. He previously worked hard as a writer at AlooTechie.com and Digit Magazine. He joined his first job at AOL UK right after completing his bachelor’s degree in Business Commerce from Bangalore University.

Asfaq would like you to believe that his life is not as boring as you think. He loves to travel a lot and on the weekend is generally found on his trusty 3yr old Bajaj Discover 125 on some interstate highway. When not on the road, our man can be found attending some tweetup in Bombay. He spends a lot of time on professional, social and personal commitments which have resulted into a sizeable network of acquaintances and friends all over the country.

Mr Tapia likes to pretend that he is very busy with the activities mentioned above and you will often notice him grumble about the lack of time, which keeps him up till late in the night (“24 hours a day is just too less ya”). The real reason he doesn’t sleep too much is because he is a very light sleeper and will wake up sometimes for no apparent reason.

About this website

Asfaq’s first tryst with blogging was on a DeviantArt account (he is too ashamed to link to here) in 2001. After 3 years of sporadic blogging he gave up on the activity because he was more involved in the forums of Zedge, Esato and DeviantArt.

This blog came into existence on October 6, 2005 when Asfaq was still in his early stages of evolution.

Back then, the blog was hosted with MSN Spaces. After flirting with Yahoo! 360 for a few months, Asfaq decided to go back to his earlier service, which was now called Live Spaces. Around that time, there was a lot of hype around Blogspot and Asfaq quickly jumped ship to the better services offered by the platform at the time. For the next 3 years, the blog remained there while Asfaq fought everyone and got into quite a few debates online about the benefits of Blogger over Wordpress.

Fast forward circa 2009 and Asfaq has finally given into peer pressure and gotten himself a WordPress blog and a very reliable hostall thanks to a certain Neeraj Pattath, who has been instrumental in helping Asfaq find the right host and bearing with his  constant grumbling about how he has to constantly keep upgrading the CMS or some plugin. He has also been truly wonderful with all the advice and guidance and Asfaq would like to thank him from the bottom of his heart. *sniff*

Like everything in Asfaq’s life, his move to WordPress has been thoroughly controversial too and has made him the laughing stock of his detractors from the countless anti-WordPress flame wars he has engaged in. He could care less.
