The Good Things [and the not so good things]

(Warning! cliché start coming) The last few days have gone swell. I met up with friends from college, met Kiran and had a ball of a time. Have had too many cold coffees and too many paneer/baby corn/mashroom/gobi manchurians!!! The college guys haven’t changed much and everyone is settled and working on in their lives…

Met people from AOL today. The entire training team came out to meet me which made me feel nice. At least there are some places where you are still liked. Chatted with everyone and caught up on quite a lot of the office gossip and happenings since I left the place. There was obviously too much to update me on… after all, it has been more than a year since I met any of them. We plan to meet again on the weekend, so that looks promising.

Apart from all the general running around and meeting everyone, I also took delivery of the Discover 135 for my bro. He has been busy with college and therefore I had the privilege of bringing it and riding it around town. It feels great to ride the bike. Its smooth as hell and the brakes and handling is fantastic. I love the on-road grip that the slightly larger rear tyre provides. Bending sharp deep turns on this baby is truly a joy!

Tomorrow is the dreaded V-Day and this year promises to be as unexciting as any other of the past v-days. Not that I am cribbing about it but will you cut me some slack please God! Its been far too long and… oh never mind.. you know already! Talking of which, don’t you think that this whole V thing is way too gimmicked? I mean Monster.com giving you ‘Romance at Office’ tips? What were they thinking.. I saw Archies selling heart-shaped balloons!!! seriously, they were for sale! What’s worse is there was quite a crowd around em too. I didn’t bother to go in cuz it was filled with heart cut-outs and other mushy stuff.

In other mundane news, Mr. Tapia (that’s me) needs a hair cut but will gladly wait till later to do the honours. His resolution to stop biting his nails has bombed and he trolls twitter far too many times in the day for comfort! He has gotten addicted to scrobbling and doesn’t play his music without the Last.Fm plugin which is kinda sad when you think about it. Will update more later, right now life’s intervened.

– me.

Last few days ka zindagi

Finally have some time on my hands to write a more updated post on what I’ve been doing off late. Nothing much really.. Work has taken up much of my time and I’ve finally stopped using the messenger clients at work to be more productive.

Yesterday was Ashura and I was on leave from work to be at the mosque. This year was (again) so different from all the Ashuras in Bangalore. I am used to waking up by 8 and spending the whole damn day in the cramped mosque sitting on my knees till your feet go numb. This year however was a breeze. Went to the mosque by 12:30… Listened to the sermon for like half hour, prayed. Returned back home… Slept and then went to the mosque again by 4:30. How awesome is that? I was comfortably seated too. Thank God there are many bori mosques in Bombay. Then in the night I went out with the cousins to have water from the 7 sabeels… some kinda ritual that I didn’t know existed when I was in Bangalore.

Work has been grinding – killing to be exact. There is just so much to do that things are never finished on time. It’s like a constant struggle between what is left to do and what you are currently doing. I hope to get over this dogma soon. Apart from that, everything is going well.

Had also given my bike for servicing yesterday, it’s come out new – with a bill of exactly 420 to boot. Ironic isn’t it? Riding the newly serviced bike feels strange. Like you are out on a first date and don’t know what to expect. You are uptight, careful and don’t want to make a stupid mistake. I felt that way when coming from my cousin’s house to work (31Km of fast highway riding).

Deadline for an article has come and gone and I want to finish it today but I don’t think it will be done today also. Let’s hope for the best. I hate articles in which I have to contact people and get their opinion on so and so subject. It’s worse when they don’t keep to your deadline and keep saying they will send it soon… sigh.

On other fronts, this weekend promises so much. I hope I don’t have to come in tomorrow. I want to watch so many movies. There is ‘My Name is Anthony Gonsalves’ and ‘Halla Bol’. There is also Wimbledon and the new TV series I downloaded called Wired. Hope to watch it all soon. I want to watch House too. It’s been so long that I almost don’t remember the storyline anymore. Damn Avatar and Heroes stopped broadcasting too!

I have become a complete twitter convert, so much so that I have started getting my news updates from the site! I subscribed to the Indo-Aussie test match and enabled notifications for it. I now get every update sms’d on my phone for free! AWESOME.

Nothing else to add. There is something that am doing and Monday will be an important day. Let’s see… Can’t write about it here till it’s done 🙂

Found this the other day… Gmail thinks I need help with spam 🙂

Oh and I found this funny too, this is from my Facebook profile, under status:
