My experience being Paleo so far

We need more Indians who are paleo to speak up and share, as our diets are so far removed from ideal and it is such a culture shock to change.

I eat only when I am hungry. No 3 times a day meals at fix timings for me. Sometimes I eat only one meal in a day, other days when I am hungrier, I’ll eat 5 full meals. Depends.

When I do eat all 3 meals, breakfast is normally eggs, bacon and sometimes both 🙂   Lunch is either chicken, beef or any other meat with a huge salad and dinner is protein shake. I go to the gym at night.

When I feel like snacking, I have a dry fruit mix with me (Ramanlal Vithaldas mix maawa) which consists of a mix of almonds, cashew, dates, pistachios, walnuts, anjeer and raisins. The raisins are naturally sweet so that solves my sugar craving too.

I also walk a lot and am getting used to standing for little longer periods of time when working. I strength train 3 times a week — really heavy weights with 2 sets of 10 reps each. I don’t overdo it.

So far, I have lost 10kgs by just goofing around 🙂

  1. I’m not able to afford Paleo, had to back off
    – meat instead of grains is definitely expensive
    – coconut oil and ghee are also expensive than vegetable oil

How can I manage being Paleo on a budget?

  2. Honestly, I dont know how you can be on paleo if you are not eating natural and unprocessed food.

Sorry, but I am not a doctor or a certified nutritionist.

  3. Trying to go sort of Paleo too, first thing I am trying to do is cut out sugar and wheat and reduce my consumption of rice. Good luck on your journey!

  4. It’s good to know some body from India is following this diet.. Its indeed an expensive diet but if you eat less outside and leave all those pizza and burgers..

  5. Anamika — thanks for the support. Any dry fruit vendor will be able to give you these. You dont need to stick to Ramanlal Vithaldas 🙂
